Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill, a popular concept whose menu was inspired by culinary influences from Louisiana, Texas, California and Mexico, will open its newest location at The Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio, TX, November 2010. The original Z’Tejas opened over 20 years ago in Austin, Texas and remains a hotspot among locals and visitors. A popular spot for lunch, happy hour and dinner and weekend brunch with both the business and leisure crowd, the new 275-seat restaurant will feature an exhibition kitchen, private dining room and al fresco dining on its 50-seat heated and covered patio with fireplace.

Z’Tejas has earned national acclaim for its diverse menu featuring such popular items as Chorizo-Stuffed Pork Tenderloin, Diablo Chicken Pasta, Jerk Chicken Salad and Voo Doo Tuna®. The restaurant serves a wide variety of specialty desserts such as its signature Ancho Fudge Pie and offers a full bar that is known for its award-winning 6th St. Margarita which is named after the original location in Austin.

“For years we have received requests from San Antonians about bringing Z’Tejas to their city,” said Z’Tejas President and Chief Executive Officer Steven A. Micheletti. “We are looking forward to serving our San Antonio friends and expect to open additional Z’Tejas restaurants in this market.” Micheletti added, “Many University of Texas grads are familiar with Z’Tejas from their days in Austin and we look forward to being reunited with them in San Antonio.

The interior design of the new restaurant is being realized by Janet Henrich Design of Scottsdale, Arizona and the exterior detailing by Tate Studio Architects. “The design is inspired by the memories and flavors of earlier journeys across the South and Western states of America,” said Henrich. “Recycled wood in the bar top and other furnishings, concrete portals and rusted steel detailing are among the elements that helped us achieve a classic rural American design.”
